Manon Brasserie Nouvelle

French elegance meets Berlin soul

With Manon Brasserie Nouvelle, Berlin restaurateur The Duc Ngo has opened a new culinary chapter – right in the iconic Hotel Roomers am Steinplatz in Charlottenburg. Known for his Asian‑inspired concepts such as Kuchi and Madame Ngo, The Duc Ngo has now turned to French brasserie cuisine – naturally with his unmistakable twist.

The moment you enter the stylishly designed restaurant, it becomes clear: this is about far more than good food. Host Jana Kämpfer, part of Ngo’s team for over 20 years, welcomes guests with anecdotes about Marlene Dietrich and a Crémant de Bourgogne served in a champagne coupe – a charming introduction to an experience full of enjoyment and atmosphere.

The design of Manon pays homage to French elegance: marble, wood paneling, bentwood chairs and vinyl music create an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and cozy. The open kitchen at the back of the room brings life into the space – here, stirring, searing and plating happen in full view, with visible passion.

In Berlin’s dining scene, there are personalities who impress without raising their voices. Jana Kämpfer and Lukas Markwalder shape Manon Brasserie Nouvelle with experience, passion and a fine sense for atmosphere and flavor.

Jana Kämpfer began her career as project manager for The Duc Ngo, one of Berlin’s most creative restaurateurs. She played a central role in openings such as the Japanese‑inspired 893 Ryōtei, Madame Ngo and Funky Fisch. As host at Le Duc Salon and Manon Brasserie, she creates an elegant, warm atmosphere, supported by her long‑standing collaboration with The Duc Ngo, which gives her an intuitive sense for wine, ambience and guest experience.

In the kitchen, Lukas Markwalder is responsible for the culinary highlights. As head chef, he interprets French brasserie cuisine in a modern and expressive way. His dishes – from grilled bone marrow to sea bass with champagne sauce – are precise and elegant, telling flavorful stories with depth.

The Duc Ngo describes Manon as “the new living room of Charlottenburg” – a place that is not only culinary but also socially significant. The brasserie sees itself as a stage for the city’s cultural life, a meeting point for gourmets, creatives and cosmopolitans.
